About Green Light Therapy

Green light targets the upper layers of the skin, focusing on surface-level benefits like improving the appearance of cellulite, spider veins, rosacea, and uneven skin tone. It has also been shown to reduce chronic pain and the frequency and intensity of migraines!

This differs from red light therapy, which penetrates deep into the skin to aid in collagen production and tissue repair. We recommend using both for a comprehensive wellness routine (25-30 min of green light plus 10-15 min of red light).

How Green Light Works

  • Chronic Pain & Migraine

Green light is thought to interrupt the connection between light sensitive cells in the eyes and regions of the brain that process pain. This can reduce the intensity and frequency of migraines, fibromyalgia, and chronic musculoskeletal pain.

  • Cellulite & Fat Loss

Fat cells are briefly perforated by green light, allowing fat to be released and then removed by the lymphatic system. Studies show this increases fat loss and reduces the appearance of cellulite.

  • Uneven Skin Tone

When melanocytes (the cells that make melanin) produce too much, it can result in hyperpigmen-tation. Green light inhibits this overproduction and breaks down existing melanin clusters.

  • Rosacea and Redness

Green light dilates blood vessels. This improves circulation, which reduces redness and soothes inflamed or irritated skin.

  • Stress & Anxiety

Green light creates a relaxing environment and has been shown to help reduce symptoms of anxiety and Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

What to Expect

  • Before your session, shower and cleanse the skin at home or use our wet wipes at the clinic to remove any oils, lotions, perfumes, or makeup. Drink at least 20-32 ounces of water.

  • When you arrive, we will review what issues you are treating with Green Light Therapy.

  • You will then be escorted to the treatment room. We will set the timer on the mat (up to 30 minutes) and instruct you on getting in the mat.

  • We will then leave the room and close the door. You should disrobe down to your underwear. Make sure your garments are a light color, 100% cotton, with no metal (e.g., bra hooks). Dark clothing, synthetics, and metal will heat up and become uncomfortable.

  • You will lay down on the green light mat and pull the top section over you like a blanket. The light will feel warm.

  • After green light treatment is completed, you will redress and use the vibration plate for ten minutes. This assists the lymph system in ridding your body of toxins. You may forgo the vibration plate if you are going to the gym or exercising. Drink another 20-32 ounces of water.

GLT FAQs

  • Green light therapy is an emerging treatment that is still being studied. Many studies show promising results, especially for decreasing intensity and frequency of migraines, chronic pain, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, hives, cellulite, stress, and anxiety.
